Toni Price

Background

toni1 I started downhill skiing in my early 20s. Thirty years later, I still skied – and nothing else! When I was in my early 50s someone talked me into visiting a rock climbing gym in another state. The gym experience led to an outdoor climbing outing. That set the hook; I fell in love with climbing and rediscovered a love of being outdoors that I’d neglected for far too long. When I returned to Pittsburgh, I looked for people to climb with and found the Explorers Club. The club has given me good friends and amazing experiences I’d never dreamed of having.

The Club got me started on an array of outdoor pursuits – hiking, trail running, snowshoeing, etc. Since then I’ve been involved with both the Rock School and the Mountaineering School as an instructor, committee member (2010 Rock School Committee Chair, 2011 Mountaineering School Committee) and 2011 Rock School Co-Director. It just goes to show it’s never too late to start!
