" Jon was originally supposed to go to Everest Base Camp and report about that for Outside Magazine. In the end, he persuaded the editors to put the climb off for a year so he could further train for it and attempt to summit the peak. During his climb, as he reached the top and saw a storm moving in quickly, there were still 20 climbers working their way up, everyone oblivious to the disaster yet to come. Too many of the people on the mountain were ill prepared to climb and too many people had agendas that didn't include bad weather or failure. The idea that money could buy their way up the mountain was high on many people's minds. Their guides would get them there…and hopefully back! Eight climbers died on the mountain causing many people to look at the methods used for climbing on Everest.

The book reads like a fiction thriller."
