Reel Rock Film Tour 2012
Coming to Pittsburgh for the second time, the Reel Rock Film Tour once again brought the Pittsburgh climbing community together for a fun and action-packed event. Over 400 attendees came to the free event, which included the four Reel Rock films, a short preview of the Mountaineering School documentary, presentations from local climbing community representatives, and a raffle that raised money for the Access Fund. The audience was a good mix of CMU students, ECP members, and other climbers from the area that came to enjoy the evening.
A raffle benefitting the Access Fund was spearheaded by Kathy Dreher, and was an even bigger success this year. With prizes from five sponsors, including passes to The Climbing Wall, shoes and chalk bags from Exkursion, gift certificates and assorted prizes from Mountain Khakis, gift certificates from Coopers Rock Climbing Guides, and a calendar and book from RESLscience. Tickets were selling fast, helped by Ron Edwards, Jim Schuring, and Greg Zamuel. With over 60 prizes to be awarded, the raffle raised $932 to directly benefit the Access Fund.
A special thanks to everyone that volunteered to help! In addition to the people that helped with the raffle, many helped promoting the event by flyering, sending emails, spreading the word, and directing people to the event. Volunteers help make this event happen and help keep it free.
Thanks also to everyone who attended, this event was again a huge success.
